BUYING SHOES ONLINE

Even if online retailers are the norm nowadays, with most fashion brands already solely online, there are still a lot of women who are hesitant to shop on the web. Most especially for shoes, where fit is one of the most important things to consider before purchasing (with how it makes them feel when they slip it on, coming a close second).

But with great deals and exclusive online promos, knowing how to shop online doesn’t just save you money it can also save you time. Rather than going to the shops, you can just point, click and buy your amazing next pair in your coffee break. Here’s a short guide on what you need to know when shopping for shoes online.

A Quick Guide to Buying Shoes Online

Measure your feet. Knowing your shoe size just isn’t enough when buying shoes online.  This is because different brands have different standards for their shoe sizes. One brand’s size 36 could be the same size as a size 37 for another. It also depends on where the shoe is made. European shoe sizes tend to be a little narrower than US made shoes.

Remember to measure the length of both feet. The reason for this is because your feet are not the same size. Use the larger measurement of the two.

Another important measurement to take is your foot width, especially near your toes.  Be sure to get shoes with a generous toe box like we have designed on all of Jakii shoes, so your toes don’t get squashed inside when wearing them for a long period of time. Wearing high heels with a tight toe box can and will in time cause foot problems.

Check the site’s size chart.  Most online retailers would have a size chart on their site that you can check. Taking your feet’s measurement, you can see what size you are in a particular brand.

If a shop doesn’t supply a size chart, you can use online tools and mobile apps that can take your shoe size for you.

Read the description box. Some (or maybe most?) online buyers tend to skip reading the production description. But spending a few minutes reading the description can give you a better idea on what materials were used in crafting your shoes. If it uses familiar materials with shoes that you already own, you’ll have a much better idea on what you’re purchasing.

Take a closer look. Online retail sites always have hi-res photos or magnifying features on their site to help customers examine their products more closely.  Be aware that some sites probably gave their photos a little airbrushing or two, but still, it doesn’t hurt to check it out right? Besides, who doesn’t want to look at shoes all day?

Read the site’s return and exchange policies. Truth is, even if you’ve checked and double-checked everything about your purchase, there is always a chance that something might go wrong. They can be damaged in transit or you may be sent a different pair of shoes altogether. It happens! So in the event that you need to return or exchange your purchase, make sure to know the site’s policies.
